ECA Group has been awarded with a contract for the supply of simulation upgrade to the already existing GMDSS simulator (Global Maritime Distress Safety System Simulator) installed in the Naval Academy in Livorno.
The GMDSS Simulator will help the Coast Guard Department to train cadets and officers to use communication equipment to manage a distress situation. The system, already in use at the Italian Naval Academy since the year 2000, will receive an upgrade to the latest software version and hardware technology, in order to carry out a more realistic immersive training.
ECA Group GMDSS simulator is an advanced system for approved IMO / STCW-2010 courses, allowing the students to follow a complete training path from the basic GMDSS procedures up to the most advanced professional training on distress call management.
The supplied simulator consists of an instructor station, six student stations, based on software GMDSS desktop and one replica console, and designed to resemble the real devices on board.
The ECA Group GMDSS Simulation System has been certified by the Italian Naval Register RINA and has been declared as compliant with the STCW 2010 Code, Manila amendments.
The good and strong relationship with the Italian Navy could allow further evolution and updates of this simulation system according to the needs of the Naval Academy for the future training programs.
