On an offshore FPSO (Field Production Storage and Offloading unit), the flexible risers are connected to the vessel by means of a Bed Stiffener Fixation system (BSF) which requires an on-going monitoring.
ECA Group has been granted a contract to provide an underwater network composed of eleven DTR65 HRC swiveling TV cameras, and two pressurized Explosion proof VSR1X0Z-Z2 control units to a private operator specialized in harsh environnement inspection for the Oil & Gas and Nuclear activities.
This solution was successfully developed few years ago for an FPSO based in Brazil. Developped by ECA Group this smart solution for offshore Oil and Gas industry is completely remote controlled and does not require any diver intervention. Installation and removal of cameras are operated by a ROV. The network, installed on the FPSO, will allow a real time, night and day surveillance of the clamping process of risers.
DTR65 HRC is a very slim (65 mm OD) tube inspection TV camera offering an hemispherical viewing thanks to the tilt and lighting head. This swivelling head colour TV camera features the "DomeTilt-Rotate" process : 220° tilt and unlimited rotation under a transparent dome, with a cold light source mounted on the viewing head. The light made of Ultra Brite LED’s with 50 000 hours life time, combined with a high resolution and sensitivity electronic block, provides an incomparable chromatic fidelity and excellent quality images.
The VSR1X0Z-Z2 unit can control a large number of DTR type TV cameras ; since it’s installed within the FPSO, its container-small is pressurized by inert gas, hence is fully explosion proof.
