In early October 2016 ECA Group has successfully passed the important phase of the Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) of its first Submarine Damage Control Simulator (SDCS).
The system has been tested in ECA Group partner factory, under the supervision of ECA Group technical team and the customer experts in submarine training.
This is the first damage control simulator specifically designed for the training of submarine crews.
Its purpose is to teach to single crew members and to the damage control team that will operate on board of real submarines how to react to any emergency situation.
The system is designed as real submarine hull. It is made of metal and it has the same dimensions and the same space constraints of a real submarine. The internal structure and the internal mock-ups are based on real submarine environment for realistic damage control training.
The simulated submarine hull is rolling, thus giving to trainees the feeling of what can happen on board if there is a flooding. An internal system of pipes is distributing the water inside of the hull.
Hull and pipe breaches can be used for leakage simulation, remotely controlled by the instructor station.
Submarine damage control team has to react to all the damages created by the instructor, learning how to stop leakages in the quickest possible way.
The submarine damage control hall, after the successful FAT will be shipped to Asia and will be installed on the site before the end of 2016, to be fully operative early 2017 after customer training.
