ECA Group has successfully conducted the installation and the acceptance test of a simulated navigation laboratory for a new ECA Group’s customer Fondazione ITS "Mo.So.S, a School of Technology for sustainable mobility and for the sea located in Cagliari (Italy).

The proposed system is a MISTRAL 4000 Shipsim including one instructor station and two student workstations in a virtual bridge configuration. The ECA Group Shipsim  System is an interactive multifunctional bridge simulator, used for training activities of manoeuvring techniques in a realistic and dynamic environment.

This type of configuration allows educational activities in the virtual navigation system context. It includes several modules for the supervision of the communications and for an automatic evaluation of exercises. It can also operate as a GMDSS coastal station.

The instructor station enables the creation, planning, execution and monitoring of the exercises. The instructor station can also be used for operations of analysis pre and post exercise (briefing and debriefing).

The system includes all the elements required by the STCW 95 code to carry out the following types of training: Radar / ARPA, Navigation, manoeuvre and Electronic Charts.

The simulation system is equipped with a desktop manoeuvring console, named ManSim Basic, completely designed and produced by ECA Group, for control of speed and course of the vessel through realistic command devices.

This console provides to the trainees the feeling of manoeuvring the virtual ship models using a real manoeuvring station, designed as a replica of real consoles installed on board of merchant vessels.

The ECA Group simulation system is fully compliant with STCW 95 Code and is designed to cover a wide range of current and future training objectives.
