Mine & Obstacle
Avoidance Sonar
SeapiX- FLS

Exail SeapiX forward looking sonar is the next-generation mine and obstacle avoidance. It offers advanced detection performance, ensuring safe navigation.
It has been developed upon request of the French Armament Secretary for
multipurpose applications such as mine and obstacle avoidance, real-time
mapping and navigation, as well as Rapid Environment Assessment (REA).
Ensuring SAFE NAVIGATION
through ACCURATE DETECTION
Wide angle 3D coverage
Leveraging a unique design, SeapiX-FLS delivers a complete and accurate coverage within its detection radius. SeapiX-FLS’ electronically steerable Mils Cross antennas allows to cover a large volume of water:

Leveraging a unique design, SeapiX-FLS delivers a complete and accurate coverage within its detection radius. SeapiX-FLS’ electronically steerable Mils Cross antennas allows to cover a large volume of water:
offers naval crews with a 3D rendering of the water column and bathymetric profile, providing a clear vision of what lies ahead.
Real-time object analysis
Benefiting from an advanced and user-friendly Man Machine Interface (MMI), the SeapiX-FLS analyzes, in real-time, all the detected objects, using:
- Position and kinematic data
- Target strength index
- Acoustic measurements
This allows naval crew to both detect objects, and know its level of threat in real-time, helping them make quick and informed decisions.

Mine and obstacle detection performance
A fully autonomous detection process
No need to be a sonar expert to operate SeapiX-FLS MOAS. Fully dynamic, the detection, tracking, classification, and avoidance capabilities can run in the background in full autonomy. Should you need it, the process can also be set manually, case by case, allowing for maximum flexibility.
An intuitive & efficient USER INTERFACE
Providing real-time obstacle detection probability map
SeapiX-FLS can generate real-time obstacle detection probability maps. This information is crucial for crew decision making, allowing them to adapt their speed according to the underwater environment, and thus navigate with more safety.
One single interface for efficient multiple FLS operations
Increased detection coverage can be reached by combining multiple SeapiX-FLS MOAS on the same vessel. The user-friendly MMI can then centralize and simultaneously display all information gathered by the multiple SeapiX sonars.
A FLS for all vessels & drones
SeapiX-FLS offers a scalable solution that can be mounted on all crewed and
uncrewed surface and
subsea vehicles. It can be integrated on:
- Hulls
- Hoisting systems
- Gondolas
Specific integration can be discussed between integrators, shipbuilders and Exail.
SeapiX-FLS can also be installed on fixed platforms (buoys, tripods on the seabed…) for port and subsea infrastructure monitoring operations.
