ECA Group delivered an Arm 5E, a 5 functions electricmanipulator arm to the Spanish Ictineu Submarins SL company, to equip its Ictineu 3 manned submarines, which are 3-person underwater vehicles rated to 1200m depth.
For such a manned scientific submarine, a performing, efficient and lightweight manipulator arm is a key feature. That's why ECA Group lightweight 5 functions oil filled 5E model electric manipulators, fulfilled totally the requirements of the client.
Once installed of the manned submarine this arm permits the collection and retrieval of samples or other objects, and thereby offer an extension of the scope of Ictineu’s scientific / archeological missions or industrial interventions.

Arm 5E is a lightweight 5-function electric manipulator arm offering optimum compromise performance/weight among eletric manipulators. its modular construction enables easy maintenance and repair on deck and can be operated to depth rating up to 6000 m.
All system voids are oil-filled and compensated 0.4 bar above ambient to prevent water ingress. System operated via dedicated surface and subsea electronics units, provides full proportional control from stop to full speed.
