Space-grade lithium niobate electro-optical modulators are dedicated to space applications, with long standing proven record (TRL9). Their robustness and reliability even under extreme conditions are appreciated (e.g., Telcordia). They operate over a large wavelength range, ranging
from 780 nm to 2050 nm delivering a very broad electro-optic modulation
bandwidth very attractive optical performance such as low insertion
losses, high extinction ratio, high optical power handling capability.
LiNbO3 modulators for space are available within standardized Commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS)
product lines, in Engineering Model (EM), New Space Flight Model (NS-FM) and
Flight Model (FM).
