UMIS
Unmanned MCM Integrated System

UMIS: an innovative stand-off approach to Mine Countermeasures (MCM)
A drone-based system
Exail's stand-off approach to MCM operations enhances crew and ship safety by keeping them at a safe distance from minefields. UMIS is a game-changing solution: a versatile toolbox combining aerial, surface, and underwater unmanned vehicles (USV, AUV, ROV) with towed technologies like sonars and sweeps.
Backed by five decades of expertise in unmanned systems, UMIS integrates these advanced assets through a unified Command & Control System and the Umisoft software suite, ensuring efficient and safe management of vast maritime and coastal zones.

A scalable, modular and
cost-effective MCM solution
At the heart of this system is Umisoft, a powerful software suite that orchestrates the entire operation—from mission planning and supervision to drone management, data processing and analysis. Umisoft connects every phase of the mission, ensuring smooth coordination between multiple unmanned systems.
Supporting navies worldwide
Sea-proven solution
Exail's off-the-shelf MCM systems have been selected by navies worldwide, including the Belgian and Royal Dutch Navies as part of the rMCM program. Additionally, several other European and Middle Eastern navies have chosen UMIS for their MCM operations. These navies will benefit from next-generation MCM systems, ushering in a new era of mine countermeasures defined by enhanced safety, operational efficiency, and advanced robotics technology.
Boosting crews' expertise with advanced training
The UMIS training prioritizes crews safety while enhancing operational efficiency. By using actual drones’ models and simulators in various environments, it enables high level of operational training and fosters expertise in MCM capabilities. Our training modules are designed to adapt to various environments, including onshore installations, specialized training facilities, or onboard C2 systems, providing comprehensive and flexible training solutions. Exail's Ostende factory features a brand new high standard training facilities, with immediate access to the North Sea for practical on-site training.
