ECA ROBOTICS Belgium in Mouscron will accommodate and develop its R&D activities in the field of mine warfare, as well as its administrative functions. The work awarded to ECA ROBOTICS Belgium for the MIRICLE project, selected in the framework of the EDIDP 2020 call, will be carried out at the Mouscron premises.
This new base will further strengthen ties between local industrial and academic players in Belgium.
18 employees, including 7 engineers, are already collaborating on innovative topics in the field of mine countermeasures, and ECA Robotics Belgium is conducting a recruitment programme to reinforce its teams. The offices can accommodate up to 25 workers.
"These new offices are supporting the growth that ECA ROBOTICS Belgium is currently experiencing, and evidence of the acceleration of its recent development. We would like to thank the city of Mouscron, the IEG local authority and the Belgian Defence for their support in setting up ECA ROBOTICS in Belgium" says Steven Luys, CEO of ECA ROBOTICS Belgium.
"As minister, it is important for me to be here for this occasion, a prime example of how the Belgian Defence and industry are collaborating in the interests of our security. The Research & Development performed here contributes to building the foundations of our Belgian Navy 2.0, with new technologies to reinforce our position as a world authority in the field of mine countermeasures. The Defence, companies and the academic world have the opportunity of working together to create a more secure future for our country and its residents" says Ludivine Dedonder, Minister of Defence.
As a reminder, the consortium Belgium Naval & Robotics, made up of Naval Group and ECA GROUP, was chosen by the Belgian and Royal Netherlands navies to supply twelve minehunter ships and a toolbox composed of around one hundred drones which will equip the ships. ECA ROBOTICS Belgium is a subsidiary of ECA GROUP.
