Exail advances inertial testing with latest-generation EVO Series rate tables

Exail continues to set the standard in inertial sensor and system testing with its latest-generation EVO 20L and EVO 30L rate tables. Designed to meet the demands of both high-volume production testing and advanced development phases, these platforms represent the ongoing evolution of Exail EVO series, combining improved mechanical design, higher performance, and unmatched test versatility.

EVO 20L: increased test capacity, same compact footprint

Part of Exail’s continued refinement of its test systems, the EVO 20L builds on the proven foundation of the EVO line with key enhancements in structure, capacity, and precision. Designed for mass production testing of high-performance inertial sensors — from MEMS to tactical-grade IMUs — the EVO 20L provides substantial testing throughput in a compact form.

The EVO 20L model, with its dual-deck configuration, allows simultaneous testing of twice as many units — doubling productivity without increasing the table's footprint. Its large payload capacity (up to 50 kg) and arcsecond-level positioning accuracy make it an ideal platform for testing demanding systems at scale.

Behind this performance leap is a complete mechanical redesign. The structure, shaft, motor support, and platform have all been re-engineered for higher stiffness and reduced resonance. Modal analysis has been used to optimize the design for minimal weight and maximum dynamic performance — effectively eliminating parasitic movements and enhancing test fidelity compared to previous models.

As a vertically integrated manufacturer, Exail delivers full lifecycle support for its solutions, from hardware production and test benches to maintenance and export compliance — offering customers a unique advantage in terms of reliability and long-term value.

EVO 30L: realistic simulation for system-level testing

Aimed at developers working on full-system integration, the EVO 30L offers robust capabilities for Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) simulation. This 3-axis rate table is purpose-built for the final stages of product validation, enabling engineers to test complete systems under simulated real-world conditions.

To ensure measurement accuracy, several engineering improvements have been incorporated. Notably, the vibration environment has been further improved through redesigned airflow management around the thermal chamber. Additionally, encoders have been repositioned closer to the payload to ensure that motion is captured directly at the source, where the inertial unit is mounted. These refinements contribute to significantly enhanced measurement integrity.

The EVO 30L supports real-time simulation and offers options such as reflective memory for synchronized feedback and precise control. Its ability to accurately replicate complex motion profiles makes it ideal for demanding environments where precision and repeatability are non-negotiable.
