SPIRIT joint laboratory
between Exail & CIMAP Lab on laser sources for quantum technologies
Exail and the CIMAP Lab (Center for Research on Ions, Materials and Photonics, a joint research laboratory of CEA, CNRS, ENSICAEN and Univ. of Caen Normandy) created in 2026 SPIRIT, a joint research laboratory focusing on the development of new laser sources for quantum technologies, based on fiber-optic or waveguide components photo-inscribed using femtosecond lasers.
Ultimately, this joint laboratory aims to develop new laser technologies 100% "Made in France" for quantum technologies, drawing on expertise and know-how from CIMAP’s team in Caen and from Exail’s sites of Lannion (specialty optical fibers), Besançon (optical modulation) and Gradignan (quantum systems and integrated micro-optic modules).
