By spinning the preform during fiber drawing, it is possible to preserve circular polarization in Polarization Maintaining (PM) optical fibers that are originally highly birefringent.
Exail offers spun fibers optimized for 1310 nm and 1550 nm applications, with carefully controlled spin rates to minimize the thermal and vibrational sensitivity of the output polarization.
An elliptical core design is also available for applications requiring reduced temperature dependence.
